Cranberry Islands
This summer I made five trips to the Cranberry islands, two by kayak from Manset with my wife Janice, and three with my friends Howie and Brenda aboard their boat Mobius. I joined Howie to help with his latest photography project called Painting Islands. This new effort is even more ambitious than his previous project Painting Bridges and lucky for me, he asked if I would participate. Here

Linda and Dan on the Elizabeth T.
Linda and Dan Lunt welcomed me aboard the wooden lobster boat Elizabeth T. for a photo session. Actually, I welcomed them aboard because I arrived early to set up my camera and lighting. It was a blustery fall day with a hint of winter in the air. I met this couple last month when I charted the boat from the wonderful folks at Sail Acadia as part an event I was hosting for a large group of
Sunbeam Trip to Frenchboro, Maine
The tiny village of Frenchboro is located on Long Island, eight miles southeast of Bass Harbor, Maine. The 2,500 acre island is just two miles long by a mile and a half across at its widest point. Today I traveled to Frenchboro on the Sunbeam V, a 75 foot vessel operated by the Maine Sea Coast Mission. The journey was a field trip for an Acadia Senior College class I have been taking

Fashion Photography with Starr
Starr Ferris is an actress and model from Elsworth, Maine. She and I collaborated on two photo shoots earlier this month. The goal was to create a variety of images using various lighting techniques. I shot all the images below using either Canon 600EX small flash or Paul C. Buff (PCB) Einstein studio strobes. Our “studio” was a huge room that I rented in the local community center. The
Maine Media Workshop
Last June I attended a week-long photography class at the Maine Media Workshop in Rockport, Maine. Our instructor was fashion and celebrity photographer David Turner. David shared his decades of experience with us one-on-one and as a group. On our last night, David shot the class photo below including the assistants and David himself. That’s me seated on the left in the first row. Below
Seal Harbor Regatta
Today’s images are from the Seal Harbor Regatta. Most of the photos are from the 420 races, plus a few of the Luders and IOD boats. Do these kids look like they are having fun or what? Thank you to John Roberts of the MDI Community Sailing Center for taking Janice and I out in his Whaler to photograph this event.
Jennifer Steen Booher
Jennifer Steen Booher lives on Mount Desert Island, Maine with her husband, two kids, and two dwarf rabbits. She is an amazing artist and photographer. Her Beachcombing series of photographs documents the things she found on a particular beach on a particular day. Each image has a crisp white background and a precise arrangement of odd shapes and rough textures that highlight the
