A portrait can be photographed in the studio or on location. If conditions are just right, a location portrait can be taken using natural light, but I usually carry portable studio lighting and use it both outdoors and indoors. All of the pictures in this gallery were shot on location using a combination of ambient light and flash. In the large photo below, a flash was positioned at camera left, just outside the frame.
