Bitter Cold in Southwest Harbor Maine
Southwest Harbor, Maine on a cold December morning is the subject of this brief post. When I awoke today and saw the thermometer reading only 1°F I knew it would be a good time to get more pictures of sea smoke. After a quick cup of coffee, I jumped in the Subaru (which thankfully cranked over and started immediately) and drove down Clark Point road to the upper town dock which is just a few minutes from my house. I fired off a few frames there (large photo below) and then continued on to the lower town dock by the Coast Guard station to try my luck at that location. I then went back into town and headed down Seawall Road to the village of Manset which is part of Southwest Harbor. I took a left on Cable Crossing Road, drove to the end and got out to walk carefully along the icy shore and get pictures of Great Cranberry Island and the mountains of Mount Desert Island.
